Early Childhood

Nursery School

See for yourself what makes the JCC Nursery School so special...

Come visit the JCC Nursery School! Although children are always welcome, you may find that it is easier to focus without them attending. Beginning on October 3, and running through May 1, weekly tours will be given on Tuesdays at 9:30 AM. Reservations are not necessary. When planning your visit, please note that tours will not be available on the following dates due to holiday closures:  December 19, December 26, February 13, and April 3.

Our Community Embraces Children

Our community embraces children through education, sports and family activities. Located in the Uptown JCC, the JCC Nursery school has acted as a pillar of early childhood education in New Orleans for over half-a-century. Outside of the Nursery school, pre-school age children can participate in Early Childhood Enrichment classes, sports programs, family activities, summer camps and more.

Classes at the JCC Nursery

Finding the right class for your child poses dilemmas for every parent. Do you want your toddler to be the oldest in his or her class? What does it mean to be the youngest among a group of Pre-K students? Do boys and girls face different hurdles? Should a child attend school five days a week? No test can answer those questions. But the experienced, professional teachers of the JCC Nursery School can help smooth the path for children of different abilities and temperaments.

The JCC keeps teacher-student ratios small, matching those of accredited schools nationwide. With tailored classroom activities to meet the social, emotional, intellectual and physical needs of individual children, the JCC offers a range of attendance options based on age, with three, and five-day-a-week programs, as well as a half day option.  Before and after care are also available.

Our program features:

  • Jewish Culture
  • Social Interaction
  • Ethical Teaching
  • Creative Arts and Cooking
  • Language Development
  • Science
  • Story & Circle Time
  • Reading & Math Readiness
  • Music Education
  • Shabbat & Holiday Celebrations
