Carolyn Shillinglaw Director of Youth & Camping
Carolyn grew up in Westchester, New York. She attended Jewish sleep away camp for 15 years in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Carolyn came to New Orleans to study at Tulane University where she majored in Early Childhood Psychology and Education and Social Entrepreneurship. She joined the New Orleans JCC as the Assistant Camp and Children's Director in 2016, and shortly after became the camp director. Her favorite part of camp is Boker Tov where everyone dances and sings together! E-mail Carolyn.
Neal Alsop Assistant Camp Director
Coach Neal is the sports director and assistant camp director at the Uptown JCC. He is entering his fifth summer at the J and has two years of prior experience as a summer camp director. His favorite parts of camp are the color war week and helping Carolyn come up with fun names during afternoon carpool. E-mail Neal.
Brigid MacArthur-Thompson Children's Program Manager
Brigid started at the New Orleans JCC as a senior camp counselor in 2016 and is now back as the Children's Program Manager. Brigid attended day camp every summer as a child and has worked at various camps for the past 4 years, so she is very excited to share her knowledge and experience with the JCC camp! With a Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Brigid has worked with children of all ages in a wide array of programs. Brigid's favorite part of camp at the J is watching the groups perform a song and dance on stage each week. E-mail Brigid.
Eli Woods Early Childhood Camp Director
Eli was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri where he attended numerous summer camps throughout his childhood. As a professional, Eli worked for City Year New York, NYC Teaching Fellows, and the 14th Street Y summer camp before moving to New Orleans in 2013 to work as a teacher assessor and quality analyst for Tulane. Eli became the Early Childhood Camp Director in the fall of 2016 to work directly with children again. His favorite parts of the summer are watching campers overcome their fears of the water, which he had as a child, and seeing them make new friends. E-mail Eli.

Jessica Klein Sintes Director of Youth & Camping
Jessica served as the Children’s and Camp Director at the Metairie JCC from 2009 to 2013, during which time she launched the Taglit program. She is thrilled to be back after gaining valuable perspective through her experiences as the Youth and Camp Director at the Birmingham JCC, a Kindergarten teacher at Torah Academy, and the Northshore Jewish Congregation’s program director. Jessica is the proud parent of her husband's daughter Stella and their two children, Jameson and Shira. Her favorite part of camp is working with a team of counselors and specialists to make special memories. E-mail Jessica.
Terrance Perkins Children's & Assistant Camp Director
After completing his undergraduate degree in Education at the University of New Orleans, Terrance spent the summer working as a Head Counselor at the Metairie JCC Summer Camp. It was that summer that Terrance decided that being a Camp Professional was his calling. During his 10 years at the J, Terrance has worked in various capacities ranging from Game Room attendant to his current role as Children’s Programming Director and Assistant Camp Director. His favorite parts of camp are welcoming campers on their first day and staffing the overnight. E-mail Terrance.
