Morris Bart, Sr. Lecture Series: Looking Back on Sicilian New Orleans

In this talk, historian and author Justin Nystrom discusses the process of conducting research for his 2018 book Creole Italian: Sicilian Immigrants and the Shaping of New Orleans Food Culture, and how interviewing members of the community helped him to explore the idea of what it not only meant to grow up as someone of Sicilian descent in New Orleans, but what these memories collectively revealed about the wider contributions made by Italian-American culture in shaping the city's identity.
