Fitness FAQ's


Q: Is there someone to show me around the equipment at first?
A: Two basic/generic exercise orientations are provided at no cost. Make your appointment at the Fitness Desk (Uptown) or Wellness Office (Metairie).

 

Q: Is there an extra fee for the group exercise classes?

A: For Gold Members, there is no fee. There are over 55 classes available each week at the Uptown Fitness Center, and over 20 at the Metairie Facility. Click for the current group ex schedule: UPTOWN  |  METAIRIE.

 

Q: Can I sign up for sports leagues and specialty classes online?
A: Yes, click the "Register for Classes" button found in the four Quick Links on each page.  Use the menu to find the class you would like to take and then click the "Register" button to register and pay online. This is a member-only privilege.

 

Q: How can I reserve the racquetball court?
A: Reservations can be made at the fitness desk up to a week in advance.

 

Q: Does the JCC offer babysitting while I am working out?
A: Yes, the JCC provides babysitting services for members who are using the fitness center. This popular service for children aged 6 months to 6 years is by appointment and a fee is charged.

Q: What are the busiest hours in the fitness center?
A: The fitness center tends to be busy first thing in the morning when we open and then between the hours of 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM.

 

Q: How can I make a spa appointment?
A: Call the fitness desk at 504.897.0143 to schedule your manicures, pedicures, facials and massages.
