BEGINNER KARATE
July, August
Come learn the traditional Japanese martial art of teaching self defense (strikes, blocks, kicks, takedowns), concentration (memorization, discipline, self-control), and physical development (strength, flexibility, coordination) with Dimitri Papadopoulas, five time national and current Kumite (sparring) champion.
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:00 PM - 4:45 PM
Ages: 6 to 18
Instructor: Dimitri Papadopoulas
$80 member per month / $90 non-member per month

INTERMEDIATE/ ADVANCE KARATE 
July, August

SELF DEFENSE OPEN PALM SYSTEM
July, August
Come learn self defense techniques and skills from Sa Ba Nimm 3rd degree black belt Leon Molinario. In this class you will become accustomed to the Pyung Soo Do - Open Palm System and become more confident in your own physical prowess and confidence. First time registration fee of $45 includes uniform.
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Ages: 18 and up
Instructor: Leon Molinario
$60 per month (First time registration fee of $45 includes uniform) member / $70 per month (First time registration fee of $45 includes uniform) non-member

Alon Shaya Lead 2018 Kindness March

New Orleans JCC campers kicked off summer 2018 by spreading kindness at the second annual Kindness March, held June 7 at the Uptown JCC. Famed chef Alon Shaya and his wife Emily, along with the New Creations Brass Band, led the march around the JCC’s historic building on St. Charles Avenue.

JCC Dedicates New Expansion

It was "A Sweet Celebration in Song" on May 24 as the JCC dedicated its new $9 million dollar expansion.  Featuring a performance by Azi Schwartz, the internationally recognized cantor from the Park Avenue Synagogue in New York City, the event brought the community together to celebrate the new addition to the Uptown JCC and recognized and honored the lead donors who made the expansion possible.
