A DAY IN THE NURSERY SCHOOL


Our schedule reflects the varied needs of JCC families and children of different ages. Whether your child needs full-day care or a brief introduction to school, our staff can help you tailor the right mix of optional and core programs from the following menu.

  • Early Morning Care. JCC Nursery School staff provide supervised play and childcare from 7:30 to 9:00 AM on school days. This optional program is open to children of all ages enrolled in our Nursery School.
  • Pre-K students attend class from 9:00 AM to 2:45 PM on school days.
  • Younger students attend class from 9:00 AM to noon. (Three and five-day attendance options are available).
  • Lunch Bunch classes. Optional classes are available for three and four-year-olds. Taught by nursery school staff and specialists from the community, these courses change from year-to-year, but often include activities such as art, cooking, music and sports. Classes run from noon to 2:00 PM on school days.
  • Extended Day. This optional program, led by JCC Nursery School staff, provides childcare for younger students following noon dismissal. Monday - Thursday until 5:30 PM; Friday until 5:00 PM. For currently enrolled Nursery School students only.
  • Second Home. This optional program, led by JCC Nursery School staff, provides childcare for Pre K students following 2:45 PM dismissal Monday - Thursday until 5:30 PM; Friday until 5:00 PM. For currently enrolled Nursery School students only.

National Coloring Book Day

We love to celebrate here at the JCC, and we also look for any opportunity to be creative. Join us for a coloring break in The Nosh of the Uptown JCC for National Coloring Book Day on August 2. We’ll have a table with crayons and JCC-themed coloring sheets. Can’t make it to the JCC? Download and print our coloring sheets. Alon Shaya Lead 2018 Kindness March

New Orleans JCC campers kicked off summer 2018 by spreading kindness at the second annual Kindness March, held June 7 at the Uptown JCC. Famed chef Alon Shaya and his wife Emily, along with the New Creations Brass Band, led the march around the JCC’s historic building on St. Charles Avenue.

JCC Dedicates New Expansion

It was "A Sweet Celebration in Song" on May 24 as the JCC dedicated its new $9 million dollar expansion.  Featuring a performance by Azi Schwartz, the internationally recognized cantor from the Park Avenue Synagogue in New York City, the event brought the community together to celebrate the new addition to the Uptown JCC and recognized and honored the lead donors who made the expansion possible.
