Janitorial Supervisor

The New Orleans JCC is seeking a Janitorial Supervisor to work evenings on Sunday through Thursday. The Janitorial Supervisor will oversee the work activities of janitorial personnel in a commercial establishment that includes children's, fitness, swimming and elderly program activities. The Janitorial Supervisor will supervise the janitorial crew and be the main point of contact for cleaning methods throughout the building. Must have experience and knowledge of cleaning methods and chemicals and be able to instruct others as to appropriate type of chemicals to use in different situations and the appropriate methods to use them. The Janitorial Supervisor will be supervised by and work directly with the Facilities Director. This role is a working supervisor and will be expected to have hands-on responsibilities in terms of cleaning and maintaining the building in addition to the supervisory role. 

Position Requirements:

  • Proven experience working as a Janitorial Supervisor.
  • Strong knowledge of various cleaning methods and chemicals.
  • The ability to lift heavy equipment.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Attention to detail to notice building needs or deficiencies in staff work
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills.


Fitness Staff Attendant, Part-Time 

Ensures superior customer service to all members, Ensures that the Fitness Center and its Studios are clean and orderly, Provides fitness support for members while using the Facility.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must have current AED and CPR Certifications and continue to maintain those certifications throughout the entire term of employment.

The New Orleans JCC is seeking a professional personal trainer to work either full or part-time at the Uptown location. Our newly renovated, expanded fitness center lends never-ending opportunities for self-motivated fitness professionals. The JCC will accept the following ACE, ACSM, AFAA, and NASM certifications. Personal trainers must also have a valid and current CPR certification. No online certifications will be accepted. 



Group Exercise Instructors 

The New Orleans JCC - Uptown seeks certified group exercise instructors. Join our team and be a part of our expansive group exercise schedule with over 55 classes per week.  The instructor must be able to design routines, show exercise modifications and motivate class participants.  The instructor must be able to conduct a safe and effective class while meeting the following qualifications: an appropriate group fitness certification by a nationally recognized certification group; current  CPR/AED certification. Instructors currently sought to teach: Mat Pilates, Step, and Sculpt. Pay is based upon experience.


Early Childhood Teacher 

The New Orleans JCC Nursery School seeks early childhood teachers. The Nursery School serves children 13 months through pre-k and is looking for experienced teachers to work with toddlers, preschoolers or pre-k students. Teacher candidates must provide leadership to maintain the high quality of the JCC's Nursery School, offer excellent care and education for young children, and build strong collaborations with families. Our school operates on a nine-month school calendar with the opportunity to work summer camp.

Undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred; a minimum of three years experience teaching young children.
Must be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults.

Essential that he/she have the personality and ability to provide warmth, leadership and stability for program continuity.
Knowledge of Reggio-Emilia and the constructivist approach is a plus.

Must have the ability to communicate effectively with both parents and co-workers.

Fitness Center Manager on Duty

  1. Practice a high level of customer service
  2. Take a proactive approach to member retention by developing solid relationships and serving each member above and beyond expectations.
  3. Maintain a positive, enthusiastic, and helpful attitude
  4. Represent the Goldring-Woldenberg JCC-Metairie Fitness Department in a positive and professional manner at all times
  5. Address members concerns, suggestions, and complaints in a timely, professional, and consistent manner
  6. Ensure proper use of equipment by supervising and assisting members in the proper exercise technique & execution by demonstrating proper use of equipment with regard to muscle stabilization, body alignment, and execution. Give clear & concise instruction.
  7. Ensure equipment is in good working order
  8. If the equipment is in need of service, follow established procedures to either fix equipment or notify the appropriate responsible parties
  9. Attend regularly scheduled meetings for department
  10. Shift duties
  11. Complete hourly headcounts
  12. Check your email with regularity for news and updates
  13. Familiarize yourself with the program guide so that you may educate our members and/or answer their questions about programs and events that take place within our buildings
  14. Perform other duties as assigned

  6. The ability to maintain a healthy and neat appearance.
  7. Practical experience in the field.
  8. Current Personal Training Certification (nationally recognized and NCCA accredited) is preferred.


Personal Trainers

The Goldring-Woldenberg JCC - Metairie seeks a certified and experienced personal trainer.

Certified personal trainer hungry to build up personal training clientele needed. A successful candidate must have an outgoing personality, a passion for fitness, and the ability to motivate clients.  Acceptable personal training certifications include ACE, AFAA, ACSM, and NASM.  Applicant must have a current personal training certification as well as a current CPR/AED certification.   A College degree in a related field is a plus.  Only prompt and reliable persons need to apply.

Group Exercise Instructors 

The Goldring-Woldenberg JCC - Metairie seeks certified and experienced group exercise instructors to conduct fitness classes.  The instructor must be able to:

Fitness Staff

A successful candidate must have an outgoing personality, work experience in a fitness center, and possess good communication and customer service skills. Duties include maintaining equipment, giving fitness orientations, teaching basic exercise and use of fitness equipment. Also, current CPR/AED certification required. 2021 Commemoration and Celebration Events

The global Jewish community will come together in the coming days to commemorate lives lost during the Holocaust, remember fallen Israeli soldiers and victims of terrorism, and celebrate Israel’s independence. 


What's Changing at the JCC in Phase 3?

Following the city’s transition to a modified Phase 3, the New Orleans JCC will ease restrictions for fitness center users. We see this forward movement as a small step in getting back to normal; however, it is still our top priority to remain safe.


Staff Spotlight: Michelle Benson Huck

If you’re a member of the JCC, odds are that you’ve encountered the energetic and encouraging presence that is Michele Huck. As an instructor at the JCC for six years, Michele has done a little bit of everything from cycling, senior chair exercise, Barre, HIIT, and what she’s known most for these days –– LOTS of Aqua Fit.

Brittany P. Faul has been a Personal Trainer and instructor for many years at the JCC. Newly certified through the extensive 600 Hour Power Pilates program, Brittany now offers even more services to her clients. Learn more about Brittany, her history with the JCC, and her passion for pilates.
