Kicking Off “Securing a Safer J” Campaign on GiveNOLA Day

Published Tuesday, April 30, 2019

The New Orleans JCC will join hundreds of area nonprofit organizations for 24 hours of giving on GiveNOLA Day, which takes place this year on Tuesday, May, 7. The focus of fundraising efforts this year will be to kickstart a new fundraising campaign, “Securing a Safer J,” which will enhance the security and accessibility to the Uptown facility.

“Updating our entrance from 1965 will not only enhance the curb appeal of our section of beautiful Saint Charles Avenue, but it will also improve the experience and security for our visitors,” says Executive Director Leslie Fischman.

“Securing a Safer J” will raise funds to create a new storefront with three objectives including security, accessibility, and beautification. The project is estimated to cost approximately $500K in total. With the generous support of the Ferber Family Foundation of Houma and funds from a Homeland Security Grant, the JCC is already at the $150K mark.

Here are a few ways you can help us kick off our new fundraising campaign on GiveNOLA Day:

  1. Worried you’ll forget? You can schedule an online donation starting Wednesday, May 1.

  2. Select the JCC as your nonprofit of choice when you donate on GiveNOLA Day. Donations during this 24-hour period will be amplified by awards, hourly prizes, and the Lagniappe Fund.

  3. Spread the word! Share your support of the J this GiveNOLA Day on social media.

  4. Volunteer for an hour at the JCC to help generate donations on GiveNOLA Day
