Staff Spotlight: Brigid MacArthur-Thompson

Get to know Brigid MacArthur-Thompson, Uptown’s Assistant Camp Director 

If you see her around the JCC, you might see her in costume, leading a camp dance, or guiding our little yogis to class. Brigid's official titles are Assistant Camp Director and Children's Program Manager, but a more appropriate title might be "Director of Fun."

Read the Q&A to get to know a little more about Brigid, who is in charge of developing youth programs throughout the year as well as helping to make JCC Summer Camp run smoothly with a maximum output of laughs, learning, and memories.

Describe yourself in three words. 
What’s she doing? 

How long have you been with the JCC? 
About 2 ½ years

Describe what you do at the JCC. 
I get to do all of the fun and silly things! I run all of the children’s programming outside of nursery school, so I get to dance, make crafts, and play games with our youngest JCC members all the time. 

What do you love most about your job? 
Getting to watch kids and families grow and change over the years! 

If you could swap places with one other person at the JCC for a day, who would you pick and why? 
Aquatics Director Kathleen Kennair so I could spend most of my day outside! 

Where did you grow up? 
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 

What is your favorite New Orleans restaurant and why? 
Frankie & Johnny’s because of the seafood gumbo and the great company! 

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us. 
I’m naturally quiet and quite introverted 

Where do you like to take out-of-town visitors?

What’s one thing you couldn’t live without? 

Tell us about someone you admire.
My younger sister, for being endlessly brave and determined no matter what life throws at her.

East Durham, New York

Sunshine yellow

Camping in the Grand Canyon
