The NOLA Grannies are coming back to the JCC and this time they are organizing a clothing drive for asylum seekers at the Mexican border. Please bring donations of “new clothing with price tags” for men, women, and children to be delivered by Grannies traveling to the border in February.
Guest speaker Homero López, Jr., Executive Director of ISLA Immigration Services and Legal Advocacy, will speak with the group about the latest immigration issues. Through his organization, he provides pro bono removal defense representation for immigrants detained at the Pine Prairie ICE Processing Center.
This event is free, but we ask attendees to bring at least one new article of clothing with tags. Feel free to bring a lunch to enjoy during our speaker. Dessert and coffee will be served. RSVP to rachel@nojcc.org.
