
The JCC's Teen Fit program is an educational series of fitness sessions designed to show 12–15-year-old teens how to safely and properly use the equipment in the fitness center. Sessions will focus on the following topics:
Upon completion of the program, the teen will receive a Teen Fit card. Until the teen turns 16, this card must be visibly worn at all times while in the fitness center.
Hey teens, ditch the couch and dive into action! We’re bringing you TWO weeks of pure fitness FIRE! Get Fit Week will turn you into a gym pro, certified and ready to crush it. And Sports Training and Conditioning Week will unleash your inner athlete with explosive drills and strength gains. Get ready to sweat, learn, and level up!

GET FIT WEEK
Teens will be educated in proper set up of cardiovascular and strength machines, proper technique, heart rate training zones and a variety of introductory classes such as TRX, yoga, Pilates, cycling, HIIT and more! Teens will be tested and upon completion will earn a weight room certification that will allow teens to workout in the weight room without a guardian.

SPORTS TRAINING AND CONDITIONING WEEK
Sports specific JCC members ages 12-15 have the opportunity to experience dynamic stretching, plyometrics, agility, speed work and sports conditioning with accompanying kettle bell and bar bell weight training.

The Metairie Teen Fit program consists of four, 30-minute sessions carried out by a member of the JCC fitness staff. Sessions may be scheduled weekday afternoons, evenings, or on the weekend, based upon the participant's schedule. Three of these sessions will get the teen familiar with a particular set of exercises to work the main muscle groups of the body. The fourth and final session will be an assessment of the teen’s knowledge of the proper use of the equipment, as well as the simple fitness physiology taught during the sessions.

The program consists of two, one-hour sessions carried out by a member of the JCC fitness staff. Strength and Conditioning for Teen Athletes
Geared toward young athletes, this class will help build confidence, teach proper technique, and inspire a healthy work ethic. Our experienced coaches take a holistic approach when training young athletes by prioritizing physical and mental health, safety, and success. Taught in a small group format, this class meets twice a week for four weeks. Participants must have completed Teen Fit and a parent/guardian must complete a brief questionnaire and waiver prior to the first session.
