Teen Fitness Programs

TEEN FIT

The JCC's Teen Fit program is an educational series of fitness sessions designed to show 12–15 year olds how to safely and properly use the equipment in the fitness center. Sessions will focus on the following topics:

  • Weight room etiquette 
  • Proper use of all cardiovascular machines
  • Proper use of the weight room
  • The importance of a warm-up and cool down

Upon completion of the program, the teen will receive a Teen Fit card. Until the teen turns 16, this card must be visibly worn at all times while in the fitness center. Once a teen has completed Teen Fit, they may also attend Group Exercise classes when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Metairie Teen Fit

The Metairie Teen Fit program consists of four, 30-minute sessions carried out by a member of the JCC fitness staff. Sessions may be scheduled weekday afternoons, evenings, or on the weekend, based upon the participant's schedule. Three of these sessions will get the teen familiar with a particular set of exercises to work the main muscle groups of the body. The fourth and final session will be an assessment of the teen’s knowledge of the proper use of the equipment, as well as the simple fitness physiology taught during the sessions. Upon completion of the program, teen receives a Teen Fit badge from receptionist to wear while working out.

SUMMER TEEN FIT ACADEMY

Teen Fit Academy: Summer Break (Metairie)
Strength and Conditioning is ideal for 12 - 15 year olds who want to train at the next level.  Focus will be on strength training, building endurance, speed, and agility,  See the boost in your child's strength, power, and confidence!

Uptown Teen Fit

The program consists of two, one-hour sessions carried out by a member of the JCC fitness staff. Sessions may be scheduled weekday afternoons, evenings, or on the weekend, based upon the participant's schedule. These sessions will get the teen familiar with a particular set of exercises to work the main muscle groups of the body. The second session concludes with an assessment of the teen’s knowledge of the proper use of the equipment, as well as the simple fitness physiology taught during the sessions.

SUMMER TEEN FIT ACADEMY

Teen Fit Academy Summer Camp (Uptown)

Hybrid Performance Training Week is a 5-day athletic training camp designed to improve strength, speed, conditioning, and overall athletic performance in teenage athletes. This program blends weight room training with field-based speed and agility development.

Athlete Conditioning & Development is a week-long high-performance training camp focused on developing complete athletes. This program emphasizes speed mechanics, strength development, agility, conditioning, and injury prevention.

July 6 - August 14
Monday - Friday |10 AM - 1 PM
Member price: $250 per week | $1,200 for full 6 weeks
Non-Member price: $325 per week | $1,800 for full 6 weeks

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING

Geared toward young athletes, this class will help build confidence, teach proper technique, and inspire a healthy work ethic.  Our experienced coaches take a holistic approach when training young athletes by prioritizing physical and mental health, safety, and success. Taught in a small group format, this class meets twice a week for four weeks. Participants must have completed Teen Fit and a parent/guardian must complete a brief questionnaire and waiver prior to the first session.

Increase performance in these focus areas:

  • Flexibility, mobility, and strength in all ranges of motion
  • Core strength and stability
  • Cardiovascular endurance
  • Acceleration, deceleration, and change of direction

Learn proper techniques to prevent injury:

  • Proper sprint and running techniques
  • Speed and agility
  • Resistance training including multi-joint lifts
