Musical Celebration of Israel’s 77th 

Join us for an evening of music and culture as we celebrate Israel’s 77th Independence Day (Yom Ha'atzmaut). This special event will highlight the rich and diverse musical traditions that have shaped Israeli identity, featuring two performances. 

Opening Performance – Thread of Light
Orit Tashoma (BAMAH Visiting Artist) and Or Shovaly, two dynamic and independent artists from Rehovot, Israel, whose names both mean ‘light', unexpectedly crossed paths in the mystical setting of New Orleans, Louisiana. 

Orit and Or will open with a musical tribute in honor of Yom HaZikaron, providing a moment of reflection on the challenges Israel has faced this year and mourning those lost in the war. Then, experience “The Thread of Light” that weaves together Orit’s evocative poetry, delivered in both Hebrew and English, with Or’s soulful musical arrangements and masterful guitar playing. What unfolds is an unforgettable experience that bridges cultures and stories of immigration, identity, and justice through music.

Main Performance – Frank London & Eleanor Reissa with the Klezmer Brass Allstars
Frank London, a Grammy Award-winning trumpeter and founding member of the Klezmatics, leads a high-energy celebration of Jewish jazz and Eastern European Yiddish Music (Klezmer). His band, Di Shikere Kapelye (the Klezmer Brass Allstars), blends centuries-old melodies with contemporary influences. 

Get ready to dance, clap, and celebrate as we embrace the unbreakable spirit of Israel. This family friendly event is free and open to the public. Israeli Food by D’vash Catering will be available for purchase.
