Laura Nyro Live Tribute: A Great Jewish Songwriter
A Jewish and Italian girl from the Bronx with a jazz trumpeter father and a cantor uncle, Laura Nyro composed hits made famous by Blood Sweat & Tears, Three Dog Night, The 5th Dimension, Peter Paul and Mary, and Barbra Streisand. She was an inspiration to Elton John, close friends with Miles Davis, and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame by an emotional Bette Midler in 2012.
In addition to her “radio-friendly” pieces, Laura Nyro has an intense catalogue of astoundingly hypnotic work, in which she disregards every so-called “rule of music” except for those of Passion, Engagement, and Storytelling. Join us for a unique, soul-stirring evening of performance featuring Ainsley Matic, Alizah, Hannah Kreiger-Benson, Katarina Boudreaux, and Meryl Zimmerman.
