The Ogden Museum of Southern Art: The Unending Stream
Join us to experience the rich visual legacy and vibrant contemporary scene of New Orleans photography through The Unending Stream, a two-part exhibition at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Inspired by a Clarence John Laughlin photograph of the same name, the exhibit pays tribute to the “Father of American Surrealism,” whose mid-20th century work explored themes of memory, time, and identity through a distinctly Southern lens. This exhibition continues that artistic lineage by spotlighting a dynamic group of photographers who are shaping the visual narrative of New Orleans in the 21st century.
The Unending Stream: Chapter II features the work of six artists—Casey Joiner, Eric Waters, Virginia Hanusik, Giancarlo D’Agostaro, Steve Pyke, and Clint Maedgen—whose photographs reflect the mystery, complexity, and beauty of the Crescent City. From Black masking traditions and coastal erosion to nocturnal Mardi Gras scenes and poetic self-portraits, each artist brings a unique perspective to a shared exploration of place and identity. This compelling exhibit offers a fresh look at how New Orleans continues to inspire powerful storytelling through the lens of contemporary photography.
