Economic Impact of Beads, Balls, and Baubles

With Mardi Gras just around the corner, now is a good time to look at the “biggest free party on earth” from a different perspective – the economic impact from all those beads, balls and baubles. Toni Weiss, economist at Tulane University, conducted such a study for the 2023 Mardi Gras season and will share her methodology and findings, and explore why the fiscal rewards of Mardi Gras are different from other New Orleans events such as the Super Bowl or a Taylor Swift concert.
