Morris Bart Sr., Lecture Series: Faith That Does Justice

Morris Bart Sr., Lecture Series: The Work of the Jesuit Social Research Institute

For nearly twenty years, the Jesuit Social Research Institute (JSRI) at Loyola University New Orleans has worked to advance justice in the South through research, education, advocacy, and service rooted in the Jesuit tradition. Guided by the belief that faith calls us to confront injustice and uphold the dignity of every person, JSRI has partnered with communities, policymakers, faith leaders, and students to address some of Louisiana's most pressing challenges.

This lecture will explore the institute's history, from its founding to its current work in prison education, immigration, and public policy. Participants will learn how JSRI combines scholarship with action to promote meaningful change and will hear stories of lives and communities impacted by this work. The presentation will also look ahead to the institute's next chapter as it prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary and launches a renewed vision for building a more just South. Join Annie Phoenix, JSRI Executive Director, for a conversation about the role that faith, research, and civic engagement can play in creating a future where justice, opportunity, and human dignity are shared by all. A kosher, catered lunch will be served.
