The B’nai Tzedek Teen Philanthropy Program is a collaboration between the Jewish Endowment Foundation (JEF) of Louisiana and the New Orleans JCC, designed to engage Jewish teens aged 14-18 in meaningful charitable giving. The program launches teens into a lifelong relationship with Jewish giving as participants discover that they have the power to create real change in their community and the world.
The two-hour program will help participants connect with their Jewish identity and provide a path of impact through philanthropy. The lessons tie back to Jewish values such as tzedakah (justice), gemilut chasadim (loving-kindness), avodah (service), and kavod (human dignity).
This knowledge will be applied as the group works together as a giving circle to research, evaluate, and select a qualified nonprofit to receive a $250 grant, funded by the B’nai Tzedek Designated Fund at JEF.
Teens may earn 2 service hours for completing the program.
