Fitness Facilities

The New Orleans JCC offers state-of-the-art fitness equipment for both cardiovascular and strength training. These areas of our facilities are open to Gold members ages 16 and older or teens who have completed our Teen Fit program. 

Effective July 13, 2020: Every individual in Louisiana shall wear a face covering over the nose and mouth when inside a commercial establishment or other building or space open to the public, whether indoor or outdoor. Face coverings must be worn by all customers, including while engaging in exercise activities. (Refer to guidance provided for the Face Covering Order for specific information regarding Proclamation Number 89 JBE 2020.)

Enhanced Safety Procedures

Members must complete a waiver prior to using the facility. Print and complete at home to save time, or fill one out after you check in. The parent or guardian member must complete prior to a minor's use of the facility.

Fitness and Aquatics Centers

  • Reservations are still required for cardio and weight rooms from 5:30 AM to 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
  • Reservations are still required for group exercise, indoor and outdoor lap swimming, pickleball and basketball.
  • No reservations will be required for off-peak hours in the Uptown cardio and weight room areas Monday through Friday. Off-peak hours are between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. 
  • Low impact classes will begin to be offered upstairs in the group exercise studio.
  • In accordance with Phase 3 occupancy guidelines, additional spaces have been added to the reservation system for outdoor lap swimming, as well as the cardio and weight room areas.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a mask or cloth face covering when entering and moving throughout the facility.
  • Wipe down fitness equipment before and after each use.
  • Disinfected cleaning bottles will be provided to each member.
  • Staff will regularly clean and disinfect machines and surfaces throughout hours of operation.
  • Towel service is suspended, so please bring your own sweat towel for personal use.

Locker Rooms

  • Fitness center locker rooms on the second floor will be available to Gold members for changing clothes and taking showers. Family locker rooms by the gymnasium remain closed at the time.
  • Indoor pool locker rooms will be available for changing and showers with a maximum of two people at a time.
  • Social distancing measures should still be observed while in the locker rooms, and masks are required in all areas except when showering. 
  • Bath towels will be available to Gold members at the fitness desk for showering only.
  • Saunas, steam rooms, and whirlpools will remain closed at this time. 
  • Locker rentals will return. To make changes or to sign up for locker service, please contact the fitness desk. Laundry services remain suspended at this time.


To manage capacity, reservations are required to use the cardio and weight room at our Uptown facility. 

  • Gold members can book one hour of gym time per day.
  • Reservations are available up to two days in advance.
  • Book your time based on the primary area you plan to use (cardio or weight room).
  • Fitness floor staff may allow you to use other areas of the fitness center if capacity is available.

2021 Commemoration and Celebration Events

The global Jewish community will come together in the coming days to commemorate lives lost during the Holocaust, remember fallen Israeli soldiers and victims of terrorism, and celebrate Israel’s independence. 


What's Changing at the JCC in Phase 3?

Following the city’s transition to a modified Phase 3, the New Orleans JCC will ease restrictions for fitness center users. We see this forward movement as a small step in getting back to normal; however, it is still our top priority to remain safe.


Staff Spotlight: Michelle Benson Huck

If you’re a member of the JCC, odds are that you’ve encountered the energetic and encouraging presence that is Michele Huck. As an instructor at the JCC for six years, Michele has done a little bit of everything from cycling, senior chair exercise, Barre, HIIT, and what she’s known most for these days –– LOTS of Aqua Fit. 


Staff Spotlight: Brittany Polaski Faul

Brittany P. Faul has been a Personal Trainer and instructor for many years at the JCC. Newly certified through the extensive 600 Hour Power Pilates program, Brittany now offers even more services to her clients. Learn more about Brittany, her history with the JCC, and her passion for pilates.
