The JCC’s Early Childhood Lower Camp—directed by early childhood educators—is designed to enhance the preschool experience for your young child. Led by our professional early childhood staff, Uptown campers who currently attend the New Orleans JCC Early Childhood Center will benefit from continuity of care, enjoying summer in a familiar environment. In Metairie, the JCC works closely with our partners at the Jewish Community Day School to provide a seamless transition from a school setting to summer fun. For JCC newcomers, camp is a chance to experience the diversity of our membership and to learn, play, and grow with the loving support given by our staff. Youngsters have fun while building the social and emotional foundations needed for future success as they grow. Activities include swimming and water play, music, art, sports, and more!
K'TON TON = "Little Ones"
K'ton ton (Kuh-tahn-tahn) offers a loving experience for your first-time camper. Your child's day at camp will mirror his/her day at nursery school with moments of active exploration, independent play, teacher-directed activities, and quiet reflection. Experienced K'ton ton staff is trained in early childhood development and understands the toddler. Campers will enjoy water play, art projects, stories, songs, block building, and more.
Offered Uptown only. Camper must be 21 months by June 2023. Priority is given to New Orleans JCC Early Childhood Center families, as limited space is available.
CHAVERIM = "Friends"
Chaverim (Ha-Veh-reem) campers participate in swim lessons* led by our professionally trained American Red Cross swim instructors, create arts and crafts projects, learn songs, play games and get active in sports. Every activity is geared toward the preschool-aged child. Experienced head teachers guide your child through a busy day of fun and friendship.
Offered at both the Uptown and Metairie locations. Campers must be potty trained to participate in swim skills.
Campers swim and splash in the outdoor pool, enjoy sports, drama, music, art, and celebrate Shabbat with song and dance. Color wars, themes-of-the-week, and extra special performances also contribute to a memorable summer at the JCC. In addition to free swim, Upper Campers receive American Red Cross Swim instruction.
Offered at both Uptown and Metairie locations, our Upper Camp includes the following groups.
MACCABEE = "Hammer"
Maccabee (Mack-uh-bee) campers participate in the full scope of JCC camp activities. Swim skillz, along with arts and crafts, sports, music and drama, are just a few of the exciting activities awaiting your child.

SABRA = "Israeli Native"
Sabra (Sah-bruh) campers have a blast. At this age we begin to give them more choice in their week. In addition to regular camp activities and swim skills, Sabra campers have the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of electives such as dance, yoga, art, drama and dodgeball. Sabra unit programming will include off-campus field trips throughout the summer 2024 season.

ZION = "Community"
Zion (Zie-on) campers have the unique opportunity to serve as role models for the younger campers as well as their peers. Swimming, sports, games, art and drama set the stage for a magnificent summer of excitement and adventure. Zion campers will have the opportunity to take exciting off-campus field trips with their unit throughout the summer in 2024.
